The Islam Karimov Foundation has presented multi-volume book collection ‘History of Civilizations of Central Asia’ to the department of ‘Comparative analyses of world religions’ under Tashkent Islamic University. The book was published as part of UNESCO’s truly visionary project ‘Global and regional histories’.
‘History of Civilizations of Central Asia’ is a result of mammoth work undertaken for almost three decades by over 300 distinguished scholars and experts from across the region – a fact which testifies to the importance attached by the international organizaton to our region’s history, culture and its contribution to world civilization.
At the event held at Tashkent Islamic University, the head of the UNESCO office in Tashkent, Dendev Badarch, presented the Centre of Islamic Civilization with multi-volume book collection ‘The different aspects of Islamic culture’, which was also published as part of UNESCO’s Histories flagship project.
Tashkent Islamic University was established in 1999 by Uzbekistan’s First President Islam Karimov with the aim of promoting interfaith dialogue and tolerance.
