Islam Karimov Square in Moscow recognized as best improvement project funded by foreign investor in 2018

The Islam Karimov Square in the Russian capital, Moscow, was recognized by the city government’s expert commission as the best improvement project funded by a foreign investor in 2018.

The Karimov Foundation has been presented with a certificate of appreciation from the Mayor of Moscow, Sergey Sobyanin, for its contribution to the implementation of improvement projects and the creation of a comfortable urban environment.

The Karimov Foundation expressed their gratitude to the Government of the city of Moscow and Mayor Sergey Sobyanin for the assistance they provided and for this valued recognition of the Karimov Foundation’s efforts.

“It has been a great honour for us to work on this important project and we hope that this square will be enjoyed by both the residents and guests of the Russian capital,” the Foundation said in its statement.

The monument to Uzbekistan’s first president Islam Karimov was unveiled in Moscow on 18 October.

In line with the agreement reached with the Moscow city administration in spring 2017, the Karimov Foundation – which is led by President Karimov’s younger daughter Lola Karimova-Tillyaeva – was responsible for the design, manufacturing and installation of the monument to Islam Karimov in the Russian capital. The design and landscaping work in the square’s park area were carried out jointly by the Moscow city administration and the Karimov Foundation.
